Additionally, he taught for the Wellness Department at Wilfrid Laurier University, serving those students while completing his Undergraduate degree.

In 2015 Gabriel completed a BSc. in Kinesiology & Physical Education and Mathematics at Wilfrid Laurier University. The Kinesiology & Physical Education part of his education help Gabriel to see a person and their body as integrated and connected, and the Mathematics portion helps him to see the underlying structure in many aspects of the world and his work.

Gabriel has a love for teaching and has worked as a camp counselor and mentor for youth at camp. He has also worked in the public school system as a Supply Teacher, supporting all grades at the Elementary level. Wherever he finds himself, Gabriel brings his skills of non-judgmental listening. It is natural for him to speak with anyone from any walk of life.

In his Psychotherapy practice, Gabriel values being present with his clients. His knowledge of yoga and breathing practices serves to support clients as they develop emotional awareness. Alongside holding a safe space and offering reflection, he supports clients in taking agency in their own lives to make the changes that they desire.

Approaches to Counselling

Gabriel applies a Biopsychosocial approach to each client. Simply put, this means that he acknowledges the interconnected nature of a person’s mental health – wellness or challenge in one’s Biology, Psychology, or Social life may have an impact on the whole person.  Thus, any area that the client wishes to focus on is understood within the context of the unique interaction of their Biological, Psychological, and Social aspects.

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is a corner stone of his work with clients.  CBT serves as an excellent platform to provide psychoeducation, and to investigate clients’ values.  Through supportive and attentive listening, it becomes possible to hear what a client may be feeling, and then to offer opportunities to see their experiences from different perspectives.  It also helps to create an open environment that encourages clients to continue to explore their lives, and how to integrate self-care practices between sessions.

The goal of this work is to help clients navigate their current and future lives with as much grace and ease as they are wanting.  Gabriel aims to encourage his clients’ healing and growth by providing a compassionate, non-judgmental safe space where they can feel empowered to make the changes that they desire for themselves.
